Forty-four years ago today, the world lost a true hero of the civil rights movement. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968 while in Memphis, Tenn. supporting sanitation workers who were fighting for respect in the workplace.
Dr. King’s legacy of social justice helped define generations of men and women who have stood bravely in the face of adversity to fight for basic human rights. The Teamsters Union has a proud history of fighting for civil rights, and supported Dr. King during some of the most tumultuous times in our country’s history.
